Are tips open bank holidays?
Despite most tips, or household waste recycling centres, being closed on major days over the festive season – including New Year’s Day – they are typically open on Bank Holiday Monday.
How many times can you go to tip?
From next month there will be limits on the number of times you can go to the tip. For car drivers it will be 52 times a year – an average of once a week – while, depending on the size of their vehicle, van drivers will be limited to either 12 or 18 visits a year.

Recycling centres are for household waste only. Staff on site may ask you about the type and quantity of waste you are disposing of, if they believe it may be business or landlord waste. Where can I recycle in Centre County PA?
CCRRA’s Commercial Recycling Carts (blue recycling carts at apartment buildings, businesses, etc.) are still being collected. CCRRA’s Curbside Recycling has resumed with new guidelines. Recycling drop off locations remain open. Always use proper social distancing practices when visiting our drop off recycling locations.
Is the Balloo recycling centre open on holidays?
Balloo Recycling Centre Household Recycling Centres at Balloo, Ballygowan, Comber, Donaghadee, Holywood, Kircubbin, Millisle, Newtownards and Portaferry are closed on Bank/Public holidays. Periods following Bank/Public holidays are likely to be busier than normal, therefore delays can be expected.
