Zombies can use armor, weapons or tools.
How much does a zombie weigh?
In the screenshot here, it’s revealed that 646 zombies weigh roughly the same as one elephant. Assuming a weight of 10,000 pounds for an average elephant, that means that the average zombie head weighs about 15.5 pounds. That’s pretty heavy for a head!
What armor can skeletons wear?
For skeletons, low strength and decent dexterity means that medium armor is the way to go. Scale mail is a good balanced option, being fairly cheap and boosting their AC up to a respectable 16, or 18 if you give them a shield as well (though that prevents them from using a two-handed weapon like their shortbow).
Can a undead wear armor and use weapons?
Of course, this doesn’t say whether undead are inherently proficient or not with any armor or weapons you give them. That’s probably a DM decision. If you’re turning dead party members into undead minions or something, they might retain their proficiencies from when they were alive.
Can a animated dead have weapons and armor?

Can a zombie wear armor and use weapons?
Some adjudication will apply. Zombies are essentially mindless and lacking in skills, so I would rule them as not proficient, or at most as proficient in simple weapons and light armor. Skeletons, however, are not mindless, and are specifically noted as being able to operate siege weapons and such.
Can a skeleton fight with weapons and armour?
A skeleton can fight with weapons and wear armor , can load and fire a catapult or ttebuchet, scale a siege ladder, form a shield wall, or dump boiling oil. However, it must receive careful instructions explaining how such tasks are accomplished. Although they lack the intellect they possessed in life, skeletons aren’t mindless.
