As far as I know, only a monk receives unarmed strikes as a bonus action as part of their Martial Arts feature. They can use unarmed stikes or weapon attacks for the attack action and can subsequently take an unarmed strike as a bonus action if they took the attack action.
Can monk attack as a bonus action?
Monks can make one attack as a Bonus Action for free if they had taken the Attack action, or two attacks as a Bonus Action if they spend the Ki point for Flurry Of Blows.
Do monks add proficiency to bonus attacks?
You don’t add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative. However, monks do not get this fighting style.
Do monks get proficiency to unarmed attacks?
Yes, the monk is proficient In addition to being listed as a weapon in the starter guide, in the PHB the monk description explicitly mentions it. The monk level table spells out the increasing base damage that a monk does unarmed.
Can you off hand unarmed strike?
1- You only need to have both hands on a weapon for the instant you attack with it. Grabbing and letting go with one hand takes no type of action/interaction. So you could attack two handed then punch. 2- Unarmed Strikes can be kicks, elbows, etc.
Can a monk make an unarmed strike with a bonus action?
Yes, as long as they make the Attack with an Unarmed Strike. Two-Weapon Fighting does not allow the damage from an attack using a weapon held in your other hand from benefiting from your ability modifier. The Monk has a class feature which simply states they can make an Unarmed Strike using a Bonus Action.
What does the extra attack do in monk?
The Extra Attack adds one “strike” to your Attack action, which means you can take the Attack action for one or two “strikes”. Your Bonus action does not benefit from the Extra Attack feature. Sorry, the Bonus Action unarmed strike in the Martial Arts section of the Monk class doesn’t state that it benefits from the Extra Attack feature.
When to use unarmed strike in martial arts?
Martial Arts reads; “When you use the Attack action with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon on Your Turn, you can make one unarmed strike as a Bonus Action.” —Simple enough. Use a bonus action to punch something. Comparable to attacking with your off-hand, except you still get to add your dex modifier to damages.
When do monks add their Dex to damage rolls?
Yes. Whether as part of their normal bonus attack when unarmed or wielding a monk weapon or as part of a ‘flurry of blows’, monks apply their ability modifier (Strength or Dexterity) to their damage rolls.
