Can Druids cast Dispel magic?
Counterspell works against any spell, regardless of a spell’s casting time or duration. With the Ready action, dispel magic can be cast in response to another spell being cast, yet dispel magic can’t substitute for counterspell.
How do you stop petrification?
Petrified is a condition, there are currently two spells that remove it. Greater Restoration as mentioned here, and Wish, the 9th level spell. Usually there are also consumables (potions/salves/oils) that will remove petrification, however we have not seen any of those yet (we’ll likely see them with the DMG though).

At Higher Levels.
Do you apply dispel check to all magic items?
Magic items are not affected by an area dispel. For each ongoing area or effect spell whose point of origin is within the area of the greater dispel magic spell, apply the dispel check to dispel the spell.
