Mobs can’t spawn in water, even from Monster Spawners!
Will mobs wander into water?
While mobs will generally flow with the water current, mobs will often get stuck if they have to go through a single hole in the floor leading to the collection part of our trap. The mobs consider signs as blocks they can walk on, so they’ll try to walk across them, but they will instead fall into the canals.
Can mobs spawn 1.16 water?
Mobs other than water mobs are unable to spawn in water. Mobs other than striders are unable to spawn on lava. (Side note: You can download a mod to show where you have to spawn-proof for your mob farm or entity removing needs.)
Can mobs spawn near lava?
Infernal creeper is one of the moded mobs that you will find in the deeper levels. They usually appear near lava but, they can also spawn in dark areas at lava level. They are immune to fire damage and do not appear on the surface unless they somehow find a way up to the surface (like some stairs made by players).
How often do mobs spawn?
Hostile mobs have a spawning cycle once every game tick (1 ⁄ 20 of a second). Friendly and water mobs have only one spawning cycle every 400 game ticks (20 seconds). Because of this, where conditions permit, hostile mobs spawn frequently, but passive mobs (animals) spawn rarely. Most animals spawn within chunks when they are generated.
Can command blocks spawn mobs?

Can mobs spawn in Minecraft in the day?
Mob Spawning Passive mobs such as cows, chickens, and pigs spawn naturally during the day, and can only spawn on grass blocks illuminated with a light level of 9 or higher (mooshrooms spawn on mycelium blocks instead of grass blocks). Hostile mobs spawn at night, and can only spawn on blocks with a light level of 7 or lower.
