Creatures with truesight could, out to a specific range, see in both normal and magical darkness. As well as that, they could see invisible creatures and objects and automatically see through visual illusions (to reveal the original form of a creature or shapeshifter).
Can Detect Magic detect scrying?
Yes, the Scrying sensor can be sensed with Detect Magic.
Can you SCRY on an invisible person?
You would see the location and hear what is going on, but likely one may think the spell had failed. If the invisible creature moved, the scrying device would move with them. Scrying itself does not specifically require line of sight in order for it to work.
Is it possible to see the future with scrying?
But scrying, like all esoteric practices, is not about “seeing the future.” The future can’t be seen, it can only be speculated based on present moment information. The word “scrying” actually comes from the Old English word descry which means “to make out dimly” or “to reveal.”
Can you be perceived through a magical scrying sensor?
Can’t be perceived through magical scrying sensors. There are only two spells in the PHB that create magical scrying sensors: clairvoyance and scrying. These are obviously covered by Item 2.
How does scrying spell work with invisible objects?
A creature that can see invisible objects sees the sensor as a luminous orb about the size of your fist. Instead of targeting a creature, you can choose a location you have seen before as the target of this spell. When you do, the sensor appears at that location and doesn’t move.
What happens when you fail a scrying spell?
On a failed save, the spell creates an invisible sensor within 10 feet of the target. You can see and hear through the sensor as if you were there. The sensor moves with the target, remaining within 10 feet of it for the duration. A creature that can see invisible objects sees the sensor as a luminous orb about the size of your fist.
