Can you cast cantrips with extra attack?

Fighter’s “Action Surge” allows you to gain a second action, which you could use to cast a cantrip/leveled spell (but that is two actions and two castings) The New Bladesinger Classes extra attack feature allows you to cast a cantrip as one of your extra attacks, but you can’t use that to cast two cantrips.

How does Multiclassing affect cantrips?

Cantrips act like 4e’s At-Will spells and as such level with each “tier” in 5e to maintain their usefulness. Tying this to character level means that players who multiclass or for example start off with a free cantrip (such as High Elves) are still able to make use of those cantrips throughout the whole of the game.

Can you stack extra attacks from Multiclassing?

The Extra Attack feature from different sources does not stack. The rules for stacking Extra Attack as they relate to non-fighters and fighters are in the Multiclassing section of the Player’s Handbook, pg. 164: If you gain the Extra Attack class feature from more than one class, the features don’t add together.

Are cantrips considered attacks?

Some cantrips require an action and include making a melee attack as part of their casting. Two examples of this are green-flame blade and booming blade. If you are using a cantrip such as one of these then you are technically making a melee attack and using a cantrip.

Do cantrips count as attack action?

No, casting a cantrip replaces all of your attacks for the turn. Each turn (by default) you have one action to use. A few examples of actions are: Attack, Cast a Spell, Dodge, and Dash (see the Actions in Combat section of the PHB for more).

Yes. The rule for casting any spell with a bonus action says that the only other spells you may cast that turn are cantrips with an action. That’s not accurate. The rule is you can only cast one leveled spell per turn except for Action Surge. Whether it’s cast with a bonus action or action is irrelevant.

Can you cast a cantrip and a bonus action spell at the same time?

So if you cast a bonus action spell and a regular action cantrip, then trigger an AoO in the same turn, you would not be able to use your reaction to cast Shield. But if you were attacked after your turn had ended, you would then be able to cast Shield.

You can’t cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action. to mean you can only cast one other spell during the entire turn, then you can only cast 4 (strike the bonus actions spell from the above list and instead hit the WMS on one of the other two action spells).

When does the damage of a cantrip increase?

This spell’s damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10). You’ll notice that it still has a casting time of 1 action. There do exist ways to change the casting time of spells.
