You cannot cast two cantrips during one action. That’s why many cantrips scale as you level. To further explain what you read, if you cast a spell as a bonus action, you can only use your action to cast a cantrip. For example, there’s a monster next to you.
Is there a limit on casting cantrips?
Cantrips are free magic — if you know a cantrip, you can cast it as many times as you want, whenever you want. Cantrips don’t need to be prepared, and they don’t use up Spell Slots.
Can you cast unlimited cantrips?
Any character can cast any cantrips they know at will and an unlimited number of times, unless the feature that lets them cast it specifically says otherwise.
How many cantrips can you have at level 1?
From the first level, a wizard starts out with three cantrips and two spell slots. You also have a spellbook, which allows you to pick what spells you’re putting into those slots from a variety.
Do cantrips count as spells known?
1 Answer. No. Cantrips are counted separately from the spells that you learn. If you look at the table at the beginning of the chapter for warlocks you can see the number of spells know and the number of cantrips known.
What’s the maximum number of cantrips you can use?
5 For maximum possible cantrips, you take 1 level sorcerer, Mage Initiate and Spell Sniper, 4 levels in warlock, 1 cleric (Arcana), 2 druid (circle of the land), 1 wizard, 1 bard, 4 levels in eldritch knight fighter and 4 levels in arcane trickster rogue.
Can you cast more than one Cantrip per turn?
Yes. The rule for casting any spell with a bonus action says that the only other spells you may cast that turn are cantrips with an action. That’s not accurate. The rule is you can only cast one leveled spell per turn except for Action Surge. Whether it’s cast with a bonus action or action is irrelevant.
Can a warlock cast two cantrips in one turn?
As other’s have pointed out, you can do this using the Quicken Spell Metamagic. Pair this with Eldritch Blast, which scales by player level-not class level, and you can see why sorcerer with a small multi class to warlock is so popular.
Is there a better build to get more cantrips?
My current concept has a Sorcerer 12, Cleric 4 and Wizard 4, starting out as either High Elf or Tiefling, and taking the Magic Initiate Feat and the Spell Sniper Feat for 3 extra cantrips. Is there a better build out there to get more cantrips? I would like it to be somewhat viable, but that isn’t a necessity.
