Can you double attack with Action surge?

Yes. Action Surge lets you take another action, including the Attack Action. Extra Attack lets you attack more than once when you take the Attack action on your turn.

How many times can I use Action surge?

On your turn, you can take one additional action on top of your regular action and a possible bonus action. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. Starting at 17th level, you can use it twice before a rest, but only once on the same turn.

Do you get two attacks per action in action surge?

First, two-weapon fighting: you use your bonus attack to make a second attack. It’s not “two attacks per action”. It’s one attack as an action, and one attack as a bonus. Add dual-wield style says the weapons don’t have to be light. It says nothing about an extra attack. Action surge says you get another action, once per long rest.

How often can a fighter use action surge?

At 5th level, a fighter may use Action Surge to gain an additional action. If they choose to use their action to take the Attack action, this triggers their Extra Attack ability. While this is a good combination, it is important to remember that they can do this at that level once per short rest.

When to use action surge and a possible bonus action?

The “and a possible bonus action” is in case you chose dual wield which uses your bonus action every turn as your off-hand weapon. Action Surge lets you use an additional action “not a bonus action” on top of your main action (main hand weapon) and a possible bonus action (off-hand weapon if dual wield is chosen).

What does action surge do in D & D?

By my reading Action surge just allows you an extra attack. But another person is claiming it allows another attack spread. So a fighter with say 2 attacks a round, uses action surge and instead of one attack, makes 2. PG 192 seems to say the same. Which means that Bonus action does the same? The more I read over it.
