No spell (not even Wish) allows one to escape from Ravenloft. Any creature that enters the Border Ethereal is pulled back into Ravenloft upon leaving.

Strahd can see the characters fight at their full strength and each side can see what the other is made of. If they have an easy time by blinding him with the Sunsword or preventing any of his cool charm abilities with the Icon of Ravenloft, he (and we!) will take note of this.
