Can you grapple someone who is grappling?

Grappling a grappler is fine and even the grappled creature can do it. If a nongrappled PC grappled a grappler of an ally and then dragged the grappler away from the ally, this would break the grapple on the ally. I hope that is less confusing then it seems.

Can any creature grapple?

Generally, no. The monster’s Multiattack entry will specify not just the number of attacks they can take, but which of their attacks (defined in the same section of their statblock) they are allowed to take. They can’t just swap any of those out with grapple or shove or any other attacks they might have.

Can two people grapple the same creature?

Being grappled by two or more creatures isn’t the same as being restrained. Any creature can improvise an action in combat so while the rules don’t provide a reliable way to restrain someone outside of taking the Grappler feat, the DM is always free to allow it when it makes sense.

How do you grapple DND?

A “grapple” in 5e is just holding onto the other person by their shirt/armor. Preventing them from moving away, but otherwise not really affecting their maneuverability. you can then drag the creature with you by their armor (up to half your speed). The ability to restrain a person comes from the feat – Grappler.

Can you grapple with Multiattack?

multiattack usually specifies which attacks the creature must use. grapple can’t be one of them unless listed.

How does a grapple check work?

When involved in a grapple with multiple opponents, the character chooses one opponent to make an opposed check against. The exception is an attempt to escape from the grapple; to escape, a character’s grapple check must beat the check results of all opponents.

Is a grapple a strength check?

The book describes Grapples as a “special melee attack.”, but raging gives you advantage on Strength checks and saves, except for Melee attacks, but making a Grapple roll is an Athletics check.
