Defense is a good secondary fighting style if you are putting levels in Ranger/Paladin, or are pursuing the Champion Archetype. edit: In encounters with a lot of creatures, killing them off 1-by-1 is going to be a lot better for the party’s health. With encounters that focus on 1-2 big creatures, the +1 AC will probably be better.
