While it is possible to see into the Material Plane from the Ethereal Plane, the Ethereal Plane is usually invisible to those on the Material Plane. A traveler on the Ethereal Plane is invisible, incorporeal, and utterly silent to someone on the Material Plane.
Can Truesight see Etherealness?
For the duration, the creature has truesight, notices secret doors hidden by magic, and can see into the Ethereal Plane, all out to a range of 120 feet.
Can you see invisible creatures while in the Ethereal Plane?
The creature’s location can be detected by any noise it makes or any tracks it leaves. For the duration, you see invisible creatures and objects as if they were visible, and you can see into the Ethereal Plane.
What can you see in the Ethereal Plane?
If a character can use true sight, they can see into this plane. So if anything is spying on them using this plane, they will see it. They can also see ghosts and other such spirits that try to hide from them by moving into this plane. They will also see things that were hidden in the ethereal plane for safe keeping.
Can you breathe in the ethereal plane?
Since everything was permeated with ethereality, an air-breathing creature could breathe ethereal air and could not drown in an ethereal lake nor be crushed by an ethereal rock. However, not all in the adjacent plane was insubstantial.
Does Truesight see through doppelgangers?
Truesight explicitly works on Polymorphed or changed creatures. In 3.5e true sight definitely works on doppelgangers. The wording of the spell is super broad.
Can Truesight see stealth?
Truesight pierces invisibility, illusions, darkness, and false forms. It doesn’t pierce total cover or make you hear better.
Can you pass through walls with blink?
Yes. Blink could be used to move through walls in this fashion.
Can a creature on the Material Plane see someone on the Ethereal Plane?
A creature is on the Material Plane and can perceive someone on the Ethereal Plane using the True Seeing spell. Can that creature cast a spell that only requires that they see the character on the creature in the Ethereal Plane?
What happens when you move to the Ethereal Plane?
If you move up or down, every foot of movement costs an extra foot. You can see and hear the plane you originated from, but everything there looks gray, and you can’t see anything more than 60 feet away. While on the Ethereal Plane, you can only affect and be affected by other creatures on that plane.
How long do you stay in the Border Ethereal Plane?
The creatures must be within 10 feet of you when you cast the spell. You step into the border regions of the Ethereal Plane, in the area where it overlaps with your current plane. You remain in the Border Ethereal for the duration or until you use your action to dismiss the spell. During this time, you can move in any direction.
Can a spell caster travel to the Ethereal Plane?
Unless the caster has a means to transport their effect to the Ethereal Plane, all spell effects that they create will be in the Material Plane. And since a creature under the effects of etherealness is immune to effects not in the Ethereal Plane they would not be affected by them.
