Shadow step allows for 60 feet of movement, giving an effective speed of 6.2 miles per hour, only at night. Assuming night lasts approximately 10 hours (ish) that’s 60 miles per night. That’s basically the same as fairly fit horse, so there’s no real difference, except the monk is doing all the work.
