It appears that the general rule for bonus action spell casting still holds true for using magic wands. As the user is the one casting the spell, they are limited to the use of wands that produce cantrip spells, if they have already cast a spell with their bonus action.

When used properly, a wand can be used for healing oneself, enchanting objects, and casting spells.
When can you use a swift action?
You can take a swift action anytime you would normally be allowed to take a free action. According to the description of free actions: You can perform one or more free actions while taking another action normally. However, there are reasonable limits on what you can really do for free, as decided by the GM.
Can you use Metamagic on a wand?

Can a wand be used to cast a spell?
A wand counts as a use an item action not as a cast a spell right? and there is no limitations on the level of a spell that can be cast as a bonus action with quickened if the action wasnt used to cast a spell ? Please explain how this is wrong. I would think that Quicken spell may only work on spells you specifically cast.

A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided you haven’t already taken a bonus action this turn. You can’t cast another spell during the same turn, expect for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action.
Can a Sorcerer cast a cantrip with a Quicken spell?
Sorcerers with Quicken Spell can cast spells with a casting time of one action with the bonus action. Still, the general rule of casting spells with the bonus action applies always: if you can a spell with a bonus action, you can cast a spell with the action on the same turn only if it is a cantrip.
Can you use a cantrip to cast a spell?
Not if the spell being cast is 1st level or higher. Per the spellcasting rules (p202 PHB), if a spell is cast using a bonus action, only a cantrip may be cast using your action.
