Stockfish 14’s new NNUE architecture brings even larger network files. So for the time being, client-side analysis on Lichess will keep using Stockfish 13+ (or the strongest classical version ever, Stockfish 11+, aka SF_Classical, if NNUE is turned off or not available for your browser).
Does stockfish 13 have NNUE?
The slowdown has been fixed thanks to a recent contribution, so we can now provide Stockfish 13 NNUE for modern browsers. Note that NNUE is most likely crunching fewer nodes per second than Stockfish with classical evaluation, but it is stronger nonetheless.

Is the Lichess Stockfish AI really good at Chess?
Do a tactic on CHessTempo or Lichess and then set the board up so that you can play the game to conclusion against Level 8. What does depth mean in Lichess game analysis?
It means how many half moves ahead stockfish looked from the current position. It doesn’t mean it looked at all the moves possible to that extent thought, it trims what it analises, otherwise it would be unable to reach such depths, this means a mate in 10 for example may only be found when stockfish searches in greater depths.
How long does a Stockfish chess game take?
That may sound odd, but if like me your chess time is limited, it helps not having to wait for my opponent to make a move. A G/120 game, can’t take more than 2 hours, because at the end of the 2 hours, the Stockfish AI will have been thinking for less than 20 seconds, even on an 80+ move game.
How is Lichess used in a chess engine?
