The opportunity attack action is provoked by an enemy leaving an adjacent square without shifting or teleporting, or by an adjacent enemy using a ranged or area power. Like all opportunity actions, opportunity attacks cannot be provoked by forced movement.
What is an unarmed attack?
An unarmed strike is an attack with a part of your body, such as a punch, kick, headbutt or any other forceful blow. You’re always proficient with your unarmed strikes, which are melee weapon attacks and deal 1+ your Strength modifier.
Is an unarmed attack a weapon attack?
Unarmed strikes have always been weapon attacks. Here’s where the confusion comes in: your unarmed strike (fist, elbow, knee, butt, etc.) is not considered by the rules to be a weapon the way a longsword is a weapon.

100% correct: a weapon cannot be drawn as part of an opportunity attack, despite the fact that a weapon can be drawn as part of an attack roll (even on a reaction).
When does a creature get more than one opportunity attack?
When a creature uses its reaction to make an opportunity attack, it gets only one swing/swipe/chomp. But if that creature has the Multiattack feature, it will get more than one attack when its turn comes around. It’s always worth it to risk one attack in order to avoid a second, third or fourth.
When does an unarmed attack provoke an attack of opportunity?
Attacking unarmed provokes an attack of opportunity from the character you attack, provided she is armed. The attack of opportunity comes before your attack. An unarmed attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity from other foes nor does it provoke an attack of opportunity from an unarmed foe.
What kind of attack does a flying creature use?
If a flying creature is large and strong enough to pick a smaller opponent up off the ground and either attack it (say, with its beak) while flying, dash it against a hard surface or drop it from a great height, and it doesn’t have some other, more effective form of attack, it might do that.
Can a character take an unarmed attack in dungeons and Dragons?
