Do large creatures do more damage 5e?

No. There are no weapon size differences in 5e. Weapon damage is determined by the weapon itself and unless otherwise noted those are listed in the PHB/Players Basic weapons section in chapter 5 (p46 of Players Basic).

Can large creatures one hand two-handed weapons?

While it doesn’t state that the now larger creature can hold a two-handed weapon in one hand, it does give extra damage for the extra large weapon.

Can a Goliath wield a large weapon?

No, there are no weapon size rules in 5e beyond Heavy weapons being off limits to size Small races. There is no feature like that in the Elemental Evil Players Companion entry for the Goliath race. Powerful Build only applies to carrying capacity and the weight limits for moving things around (push, drag, or lift).

Does size matter in 5E?

Being physically larger than your opponent by an order of magnitude gives you an inherent advantage at being able to control the battlefield, simply because you take up more of it. A creature’s size dictates how much space a creature can control in combat.

Can a large creature wield a greatsword in one hand?

And there’s no way of using a greatsword one handed – even if it was a halflings greatsword, the halfling would simply have disadvantage for using a heavy weapon. It wouldn’t take much to redo weapon sizes to account for this. Every weapon has a size: tiny, small, medium, large, huge.

How does the size of a monster affect weapon damage?

Yes. Weapon sizes are addressed in the Creating a Monster section of the DMG. On p 278 it says: Big monsters typically wield oversized weapons that deal extra dice of damage on a hit. Double the weapon dice if the creature is Large, triple the weapon dice if the creature is Huge, quadruple the weapon dice if it’s Gargantuan.

Can a weapon be too big for a creature?

You can rule that a weapon sized for an attacker two or more sizes larger is too big for the creature to use at all. While this is different from the “Heavy” notation used in the PHB it is not inconsistent if we assume that “Heavy” weapons are sized for Medium and the others are for Small.

How much damage does an oversized weapon do?

There is feats doing flat 10 damage for a -5 to hit and 10 damage and flat 10 is about the average of a d20 die. Swinging with a oversized weapon, let’s say a halbert with extra D10 is doing an extra 5,5 in average, it is still less impressive than the feats and is thus not that impressive in my humble opinion.

How much damage do torches used as improvised weapons do?

I’m trying to get to the bottom of using a torch as an improvised weapon in 5e D&D. Moving from the more to the less certain: If you make a melee attack with a burning torch and hit, it deals 1 fire damage. (PHB pg.153)
