Can you use a staff to kill a monk?
The monk weapon’s die CAN be replaced by their Martial Arts die, but doesn’t have to be. You can totally use a staff to deal d6 (or d8 if you wield it two-handed) and then unarmed strike for d4. Late game, though, their Martial Arts die becomes a d10, so you can now hit someone with a staff/shortsword/fist/dagger for d10 damage.
