Sadly, you have two options for this ability; Wrath of the Storm and Call Lightning. Because this ability isn’t applied to Thunder damage, the options a Cleric has for using this effect are rather dismal. Lightning Ball, Lightning Bolt, and even some shocking cantrips can use this ability quite well.
Can a cleric learn lightning bolt?
As far as I can tell, there are no ways to deal lightning damage to enemies as a normal cleric and tempest clerics get a single spell from their class spell list that can do it, Call lightning. And while that is not a bad spell, it seems weird to have a class feature for a single spell.
Do clerics have to be healers?
The Cleric, Priest or Bishop is a character class in Dungeons & Dragons and other fantasy role-playing games. The cleric is primarily a healer, but is also very capable when fighting after choosing domains like Zeal or War.
What kind of spells do Tempest clerics use?
Most of these spells deal lower damage but focus on a longer duration. Call Lightning, for example, calls multiple bolts of lightning over a 10 minute period. Per round, it deals less damage than a traditional blasting spell, but it makes up for it with the ability to deal that damage more times.
When do wrath of the storm clerics rebuke attackers?
Also at 1st level, you can thunderously rebuke attackers. When a creature within 5 feet of you that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to cause the creature to make a Dexterity saving throw.
What does Tempest do in D & D 5e?
The Tempest domain in D&D 5E is rather simple. What it can possibly do is limited, but the abilities that it gets greatly increases the Cleric’s ability to be a frontline damage-dealer. That’s not factoring out ranged abilities, either.
What happens when you make a dexterity saving throw in Tempest?
When a creature within 5 feet of you that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to cause the creature to make a Dexterity saving throw. The creature takes 2d8 lightning or thunder damage (your choice) on a failed saving throw, and half as much damage on a successful one.
