Yes, because it’s not two-weapon fighting The crossbow expert feat gives you the option to attack with a (loaded) hand crossbow when you attack with a one-handed weapon. It does not mention that it has to be light, so there’s no restriction for that.
Is a hand crossbow a light weapon?
I am not going to reply to this, but just to let everyone know, hand crossbows have the ‘light’ property. The light property allows people to use two-weapon fighting without the dual wielder feat. Two weapon fighting requires melee weapons.
Can you hold a light crossbow in one hand?
Edit: Another weird thing is, you can hold a single hand crossbow with the crossbow expert feat, and it’s exactly the same as dual wielding. You get the attacks from the attack action, and you get the bonus action attack.
Can You wield a crossbow with one hand?
The Crossbow Expert feat says: When you use the Attack action and attack with a one handed weapon, you can use a bonus action to attack with a hand crossbow you are holding. This means you can fire the second one when you attack with the first.
Can you dual wield a crossbow and Rapier?

You can do everything exactly as you described.
Which is stronger a dual hand crossbow or a heavy crossbow?
Dual Hand Crossbows- damage 2d6 = 7 average damage (bonus action required) My opinion:Dual Hand Crossbows seems stronger than the Heavy Crossbow. But on second thought, spending Bonus action for 1.5 damage seems kind of right.
Can you use bonus action with hand crossbow?
Since you used the Attack action and attacked with a one handed weapon, you can use a bonus action to attack with a Hand Crossbow you are holding thanks to your Crossbow Expert feat. (Bonus action used up)
