Unless you apply DM fiat, flanking does not give advantage. There’s an optional rule for Flanking in the 5th edition Dungeon Master’s Guide.
Do you get advantage on grappled targets?
All your attacks against your target have an advantage. The dude you’re grappling has a disadvantage on all their attacks. You can move (at half speed) and drop your target off a cliff or into a campfire if there’s one handy.
Is grappled incapacitated?
A grappled creature’s speed becomes 0,and it can’t benefit from any bonus to its speed. The condition ends if the grappler is incapacitated (see the condition).
Is a grapple check an attack roll?
Grappling is special in that it doesn’t involve an attack roll. It doesn’t benefit from (or get penalized by) anything that modifies attack rolls. That means no advantage on the Athletics check to grapple a prone opponent. Because it doesn’t involve an attack roll, it doesn’t result in a hit or miss.
Can you grapple a grappled target?
Yes, to both scenarios. The [grappled condition ends] if an effect removes the grappled creature from the reach of the grappler or grappling effect, such as when a creature is hurled away by the thunderwave spell.
Can you grapple as an opportunity attack?
Making a grapple requires you to take the attack ACTION. You only get the option to take an attack action on your own turn. Making a melee weapon attack, as an attack of opportunity is not an attack action. You can’t grapple or shove with an attack of opportunity.
What happens when a blinded creature fails a check?
A blinded creature automatically fails checks that would require sight (makes sense) and has disadvantage on attack rolls, while enemy attack rolls against you have advantage. Note that you can still make those attacks!
What happens if you get caught in a grapple?
You’re automatically released from a grapple if your grappler if they become incapacitated, such as from dying. If you’re caught in a grapple often the best course of action is to keep attacking the grappler until they die.

What can I do to improve my grappling chance?
You can improve your grapple chance in two ways; increasing Athletics, or nerfing the target’s ability checks. Increasing Athletics tends to be easier. Any way to gain Expertise in Athletics will be such a ridiculous boon to your chances (In this case, “Expertise” is any ability that doubles your ability modifier to Athletics).
