While a held person can technically maintain a concentration spell, if they’re getting hit on every hit point of damage puts that spell at risk.

Hold person is really good. If you held your action and they attacked you you would need to make a concentration check or lose the spell. I find it gets incredibly powerful as you can use higher spell slots and knock out multiple enemies. Sure you may get unlucky and its fails against 1 enemy.
