You regain your spell slots at the END of a long rest. Mage armor last for 8 hours, if you haven’t used all of your spell slots you can cast Mage armor right before the end of your long rest, and you now have mage armor for the next ~7hours 59mins 54secs and all your spell slots.
Can you sleep in mage armor?
