This article contains story SPOILERS for Mass Effect 1 and 2. As many know, the save files between each Mass Effect game carry over, if the player chooses to do this at the start of each game. This means all background traits, choices, deaths, and consequences in Mass Effect 1 will roll over to Mass Effect 2.
How do I edit ME1 saves?
Your best bet is to either:
- Restart in ME2, then edit the save to re-make all the ME1 decisions, then, play through the game and import into ME3.
- Restart in ME3, then edit the save to re-make all the ME1 and ME2 decision, then play through the game again.

Where do I put ME1 saves in ME2?
You can also just copy your saves manually to the correct folder.
- Go to \My Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save\
- Select any files that begin with CHAR_ (These are the completed game saves that can be imported)
- Copy those files to \My Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save\ME1\
Is there a way to import ME1 save to Me2?
(While the Config tool method also still works, if the save-games are in the right place on your computer.) It’s also a Sticky in the ME2 section. Furthermore, Andromeda is a completely new game with new protagonists and new storyline and without save game import from the trilogy.
Who are the people that tracked ME1 decisions?
