I believe the simplest answer is that Polymorph does not interrupt concentration. The main reason is – because the spell itself is concentration and you can polymorph yourself. If Polymorph broke concentration – you would cast it on yourself and it would immediately break.
Does being grappled break concentration?
Note that being grappled does not break concentration. Also, polymorphing or taking beast shape does not break it. As a PC trying to break the concentration of a foe, your best bet is damage.
Can a PC lose concentration by casting polymorph?
As far as the PHB is concerned, a PC can only lose concentration by taking damage, casting another spell, or being incapacitated/killed. Shy of other special rules, there is nothing in there about any other effect like polymorph (which by definition evidently requires concentration to maintain the effect, do not have the book in front of me).
Do you have to have concentration to use polymorph?
Shy of other special rules, there is nothing in there about any other effect like polymorph (which by definition evidently requires concentration to maintain the effect, do not have the book in front of me). There’s a big difference between casting and concentrating.
What is the duration of the polymorph spell?
The Polymorph spell states a Duration of Concentration, up to 1 hour. Concentration rule states nothing about losing it if losing intelligence (and even Feeblemind states that the creature can identify friends, follow them, and even protect them). The Polymorph spell states that the creature retains its personality (and alignment).
How does polymorph turn a wizard into an ape?
A wizard uses polymorph to become a Giant Ape. The ape takes damage, but the damage does not spill over into the wizard’s hit points. Can this damage break concentration (if they fail the DC 10 or half-damage constitution saving throw)?
