Polymorph replaces your game statistics, including class features, with those of the beast. If you’re a barbarian, you lose Rage.
Can you true polymorph into another class?
True Polymorph is arguably the most broken spell in the game (second maybe to Wish). If you can TP someone into an Ancient Brass Dragon, which will automatically double or triple how powerful they are, turning them into a different class isn’t that big of a stretch.
Can you true polymorph a simulacrum into you?
RAW: Yes, the Archmage can regain spell slots. It retains its alignment and personality. The simulacrum’s statistics are replaced by those of the Archmage it is true polymorphed into.
How does the creature work in true polymorph?
The creature is friendly to you and your companions. It acts on each of your turns. You decide what action it takes and how it moves. The DM has the creature’s Statistics and resolves all of its Actions and Movement. If the spell becomes permanent, you no longer control the creature.
Can a polymorph speak in its new form?
The creature is limited in the actions it can perform by the nature of its new form, and it can’t speak, cast spells, or take any other action that requires hands or speech, unless its new form is capable of such actions. The target’s gear melds into the new form.
How is true polymorph not completely unbalanced?
Two example uses that seem unbalanced: A level 20 Warlock and Bard are having a talk about dragons, and the bard comes up with the idea of becoming a dragon. The warlock casts True Polymorph, turning the bard into an Ancient Brass Dragon (possibly even one that can cast spells).
Where can I find a true polymorph spell?
This is of the clearer part of the spell. True polymorph is on the bard, warlock, and wizard spell lists. Arcana Domain clerics can pick it up through their Arcane Mastery feature. Regrettably, it also happens to be the one polymorph spell not on the sorcerer spell list.
