Thunderclap’s range is only 5 feet. So it can only affect creatures who are right next to you. You’re correct, it affects everyone who’s next to you, both allies and opponents. But the range is super short and that’s probably why it’s not having any effect on the allies of the people who are using it.

Thunderwave is a great low-level spell considering damage and effects. It has the ability to deal 2d8 damage at base level and shove enemies away. The spell is also indiscriminate of friend and foe, meaning your allies can be shoved out and take damage as well.
