According to the official Guild Wars 2 wiki it’s possible to reach the Straits of Devastation from Lornar’s Pass, along with quite a few other locations. I’ve tried finding the location in Lornar’s Pass, which I have fully explored, but I’ve met with little success.

All you need to do is go to Lions Arch, and then go to Southsun Cove (Port Lion) for free via the free transport. Waypointing from Southsun to Orr is nearly the same price as waypointing from Fort Trinity and it gets you to Orr from LA much faster.
