Even with view distance set to max certain areas still generate fog either for immersion or gameplay reasons. Your PC capabilities also play a role. Commands improve the situation a little, but the only really effective way of doing it that i know of is with mods like WMT etc. No idea if the server has a problem with using them though.

Notice that the grass goes much further, but also that rocks appears in the far distance and the distant trees that were visible are now of much higher quality. There’s even a shrine thing on the left that I couldn’t see before. All this with a drop of only ~10FPS to ~40FPS. Very nice.
