If you multiclass but have the Spellcasting feature from only one class, you follow the rules as described in that class. Spells Known and Prepared. Each spell you know and prepare is associated with one of your classes, and you use the spellcasting ability of that class when you cast the spell.
How does Multiclassing spell casters work?
According to the Multiclass Spellcaster: Spell Slots per Spell Level table on page 165 of the Player’s Handbook, you have access to 3rd-level spell slots. Once they have prepared their spells, they can cast a prepared spell at a higher level following all the normal rules found on page 201 of the Player’s Handbook.

Yes to all. The spells slots you have available to use are those on the Multiclass Caster table, and you can use them for any known and prepared spells of appropriate level. Cleric spells must be prepared each day and can only be prepared according to your Cleric level.
How many spells do you have as a multiclass cleric?
So in your hypothetical Sorcerer/Cleric, you must identify which spells you know and can prepare individually for each class. Then refer to the multiclass table to see how many slots you have. Critically, as a 5th level Multiclass Spellcaster, you do not have two 3rd level sorcerer slots.
What happens when you multiclass into multiple spellcasting classes?
If a cantrip of yours increases in power at higher levels, the increase is based on your character level, not your level in a particular class. As explained above, when you multiclass into multiple spellcasting classes, you determine your known and prepared spells as if you were single-classed in each of those classes.
What happens if you have more than one spell level?
If you have more than one spellcasting class, this table might give you spell slots of a level that is higher than the spells you know or can prepare. You can use those slots, but only to cast your lower-level spells.
How does a multi class spell slot work?
If you have multiple class levels, you add together your levels in full spellcasting classes, half your levels (rounded down) in half-caster classes (Paladin and Ranger) and one-third of your levels (rounded down) in tertiary-caster roles (Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster).
