How does Horde chess work?
White starts exclusively with pawns, and their goal is to checkmate the black king. Instead, Black must capture all of White’s pawns (and promoted pieces) to win the game. Black wins by “checkmate” when they capture all of White’s pawns. Most of the other rules of Horde Chess are the same as those of orthodox chess.
How can horde play chess as white?
The rules are the same as for normal chess with these differences:
- White wins if he/she captures all black pieces.
- If no black piece can make a valid move, the game is a draw (stalemate).
- Black pawns can be promoted to a black queen, rook, bishop or knight if they reach the last row (from black’s point of view).
