When can spell cards be activated?
Spell Cards can be activated during the Main Phases even in the same turn that you Set them (except for Quick-Play Spell Cards).
How do spell cards work?
Often, a Spell Card has a single effect to provide a bonus to the user or a weakness to the opponent. Unlike Trap Cards, Spell Cards have the advantage of being able to be played without having to be Set first. Spell Cards, except Quick-Play Spell Cards, may be activated during the same turn it was Set.
Can you chain normal spell cards?
A Normal Spell Card, formerly known as a Normal Magic Card (Japanese: 通 つう 常 じょう 魔 ま 法 ほう カード Tsūjō Mahō Kādo), is a Spell Speed 1 Spell Card, so it cannot chain to other effects, even those of other Normal Spell Cards, but can be chained to by Spell Speed 2 or Spell Speed 3 cards.
Can Spell Speed 1 chain?
Spell Speed 1 effects cannot be Chained to the activation of another card or effect. For example, when you activate “Storm”, you cannot then Chain “Pot of Greed” to draw cards before using “Storm” effect, since “Pot of Greed” is a Normal Spell Card, and is therefore Spell Speed 1.
Can you activate quick spells from hand?
The turn player can activate Quick-Play Spell Cards from their hand during any Phase of their turn; either player can activate Set Quick-Play Spell cards during any Phase in either player’s turn, except during the turn they are Set. Cards like “Scapegoat” and “Rush Recklessly” are examples as Quick-Play Spell Cards.
What do you look for on a persona spell card?
In general, you want to look for an up or down arrow, which will indicate the Persona will inherit a skill from either the first (up arrow) or second (down arrow) spell card you’re using.
