How do you dispel magical darkness?

If you want a way to dispel Darkness, here’s a couple:

  1. Dispel Magic.
  2. Daylight (“If any of this spell’s area overlaps with an area of darkness created by a spell of 3rd level or lower, the spell that created the darkness is dispelled.”)

Does darkness put out fire?

RAW: no. Firebolt doesn’t say it creates light and thus it is unaffected by darkness. RAI/common sense: no. A firebolt would obviously create light, but Darkness is only meant to cancel out light-based spells.

What’s the difference between Magic Light and magical darkness?

Essentially, magical darkness was an area-effect blindness effect. Darkness dispells flaming sphere too as it is a spell of 2nd level that creates light. And the spell was discussed here at length. It is a nice reminder though that light from magic items may be magical too.
