Strategy. Faith (at least 200 in a Standard speed game), you have a chance to spawn a Great Prophet. You first use them to Found and Enhance a Religion, and then you may choose either to Spread the religion (usable 4 times), or to create a Holy Site.
Can you create a religion without a great prophet?
You can no longer start a religion. Faith can be used to buy great people, a naturalist, or religious buildings if you receive somebody else’s religion.
Why can’t I get a great prophet?
Great Prophets are “of the civilization”, not “of the city”. Thus, they always have the religion that your civilization founded. If you did not found a religion and none are available, then you cannot spawn or purchase Great Prophets.
What do you do with a great prophet Civ 6?
Great People in Civilization VI. They are a special type of Great Person that are limited from the game’s start, and are used to found a religion. Great Prophets do not have individualized effects. Once you have earned a Great Prophet, send them to your Holy Site (or Stonehenge) to found your religion.

How does the Great Prophet work in civilization?
Aside from being able to spread religion more times than a Missionary, the Great Prophet is able to remove existing religions from a city when converting, despite having the same strength (1000). Sometimes it’s good to use it instead of Missionaries, when you need to spread your religion to a particularly resistant city.
Can you select a religion in great prophet?
You can’t just select a religion, you have to select founder belief, and then select follower belief before you can select the chosen religion. It wasn’t clear to me anywhere else until the third game I played and noticed the advice. This works exactly as described. Thanks.
