How do I get the nightmare key?
If you haven’t already, grab the Nightmare Key – it’s found in the largest room in the dungeon, and requires you to leap over the gap in the north-east corner using Roc’s Feather to find the chest. There’s also a staircase here, leading to a side-scrolling section and several hanging skeletons.
How do you get to the key cavern?
Key Cavern entrance Use the Slime Key you just dug up to open the dungeon. Turn around and loop around Richard’s Pothole Field counterclockwise — down, right, and up (it’s a long walk). At the top of the field, turn left. Jump across the tiny islands leftward until you land in front of the entrance.

If Link has not unlocked the optional rooms in this dungeon, it can be used to unlock them, although since both of them contain keys themselves and have no other purpose the end result will always leave Link with an extra key. The key is a spare. You’ll always have one extra if you explore the whole dungeon.

What do I use this extra key for in Level 3?
In level 3, Key Cavern, I seem to have ended up with an extra key. I have played through it twice, and both times had one left over. Am I missing something? Or is there just one extra key in one level? I don’t think that’s ever happened before. It’s for this dungeon only to prevent you from locking yourself out of certain rooms.
