Usage
- When resting at a Bonfire, select “Burn” and then select “Bonfire Ascetic”.
- Doing so will increase the Intensity of the bonfire by one tier each time an ascetic is burned.
Does bonfire ascetic affect?
No, it doesn’t affect the entire named area. It only affects the area between the bonfire on which the ascetic is used and the next bonfire.
What does bonfire intensity mean?
Use. Burn at a bonfire to strengthen nearby foes. Bonfire Intensity, indicated in the area warp menu, permanently increases by 1. Most enemies and items respawn, which makes Ascetics valuable for farming.
How does bonfire ascetic work?
A Bonfire Ascetic is an item and starting gift in Dark Souls II. Tossing this into a bonfire strengthens nearby foes. Once the Bonfire Ascetic is devoured by the flames, its effects can never be reversed. Be prepared before using this perilous ember.
How does burning an ascetic increase the intensity of the bonfire?
Doing so will increase the Intensity of the bonfire by one tier each time an ascetic is burned. This can be verified on the Travel menu. This effectively makes the area affected by the bonfire go into a higher ng cycle (so bonfire intensity 1 is base ng, intensity 2 is ng+, intensity is ng++, etc.).
Can you use bonfire ascetic on Covenant of Champions?
It’s not recommend using Bonfire Ascetics to respawn enemies. You can temporarily join the Covenant of Champions instead for unlimited spawns. Bonfire Ascetics make the area you’re in increase by one game cycle permanently, so if you’re on NG, that area’s difficulty will increase to NG+.
What do you get from burning an ascetic?
Shaded Woods (3rd Bonfire): Burning 1 Bonfire Ascetic will get you the Southern Ritual Band +2 when you defeat the area Boss. Forest of the Fallen Giants (1st Bonfire)/Lost Bastille (1st Bonfire)/Shaded Woods (2nd bonfire): you can get the Heide Knight Set and the Heide Great Lance.
Can You farm souls with a bonfire ascetic?
If you want to farm souls using ascetics and then wish to go to NG+, the difficulty of the area will be the number of ascetics used MORE than NG+. Using a Bonfire Ascetic will NOT respawn Estus Flask Shards. Using a Bonfire Ascetic will NOT respawn NPCs.
