What is a CD key Steam?
These keys appear in the Steam library when you right-click the game and select ‘Manage’ -> ‘CD keys’. These keys are used to register your product outside of Steam, with a third party client or service. A key will not be issued on the Steam account until the download has begun.
How do I burn Steam games to disc?
You can but what I do is just use the Steam Backup Utility. When it asks you to select how many discs/DVDs you want, just pick the DVD’s and its usually around the size of 1 or 2 DVD’s depending on the game. Then you can burn the files using Nero or something to a DVD and it should work.
Do you need physical disc to download Steam games?
A physical disc is only required if you don’t want to download the game or want to keep a physical copy of your game. And usually retail Steam games on disks require an update, or even a full redownload, anyways. A steam code is a legal copy of the game, you don’t need the physical disk.
Do you need a Steam key to get a CD?
Many products are sold by retailers other than Steam. If these products are meant for Steam registration, they will include a Steam CD key. This FAQ is meant for issues with registering retail and digital keys to your Steam account.

Can a physical copy of games be activated on Steam?
Depends on the game. There’s a list you can google. Type that into google and you would get a proper answer much faster… Proud owner of an ’88 Peugeot. If it comes with a code or CD-Key, then try that code on Steam and see. I recently registered my original copy of Half-Life with Steam, and that came out years before Steam was even dreamed of.
