Skyshards are meant to provide you with a skill point after you have collected three of them. Upon finding all in an area, such as a region, you will be granted an Achievement. If you have collected all them, you will receive a new dye with which you can colour your costumes or clothes, called Aetherial Blue.

Every three skyshards a player collects will yield one skill point. There’s a total of 381 skyshards players can get with the Morrowind expansion, which means you will be able to grab 127 skill points if you get every skyshard in game.

Skyshards have a low drop rate of about 1/1000. They can be found in Treasures of the Vale (from Golden Lotus Dalies), Small Bag of Goods(from rare spawns in the Vale) and looted from most lvl 90 mobs found in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. There is also a chance to get shards from doing archaeology within the vale.
