Fighting with two weapons is something any character in 5E can do, from Fighters to Wizards and every in between. The rules for doing this are pretty straightforward: Taking the attack action whilst wielding a light weapon in each hand, you can make an additional attack with your offhand weapon as a bonus action.
Can fighters attack as a bonus action?
Action Surge is an ability your fighter can use during your turn within a round of combat. You can decide to use it after performing your first action and bonus action, just as long as it happens during your turn. We want to reiterate that action surge enables ANY major action to be performed, including another attack.
Can I attack twice 5e?

Can a bonus action be used with a melee weapon?

Note the words “melee weapon” and “light” etc etc etc. Spells and unarmed strikes aren’t any of those.
Can a bonus action attack be used on a main action?
The Bonus Action attack can only be done if your Main Action is the Attack action. You can however, use them in any order. 2. The weapons used for your Main Action Attack and Bonus Action Attack must be Light one-handed weapons. Note: the Dual Wielder feat removes the restriction on the weapons being Light.
Can you attack with different weapons using extra?
When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you’re holding in one hand, you can use a bonus action to attack with a different light melee weapon that you’re holding in the other hand. You don’t add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative.
When do you get a bonus for two weapon fighting?
You gain a +1 bonus to AC while you are wielding a separate melee weapon in each hand. You can use two-weapon fighting even when the one-handed melee weapons you are wielding aren’t light. You can draw or stow two one-handed weapons when you would normally be able to draw or stow only one.
