The monk ability Slow Fall says it reduces damage, but doesn’t say anything about fall speed. The Feather Fall spell says the falling speed reduces to 60 feet per round for the minute the spell lasts.
Does slow fall negate fall damage?
Slow Falling is a status effect that causes the affected mob to fall slower and take no fall damage, but does not prevent ender pearl damage.

Do monks take fall damage?
How about a monk? Once you reach your 4th level in Monk, you gain the ability slow fall. This reduces the amount of damage you take from falling by 5 times your monk level (so minimum 20 when you get the ability). It takes your reaction, but unlike some previous editions and systems, it has no limitations.
When do you use slow fall on a monk?
The description for Slow Fall is bare boned: Beginning at 4th level, you can use your reaction when you fall to reduce any Falling damage you take by an amount equal to five times your monk level. Essentially it functions as a level/feet dependent Feather Fall spell.
Can a monk cancel the damage from a fall?
Our monk buddy is going to cancel the fall damage just fine due to his class feature (though one could argue he needs a free hand or something to touch a wall depending on the world). Lidda also gets off easy, so long as the monk keeps a hold of her.

When to use slow fall in D & D?
I’m new to being a monk and D&D in general and I’ll be starting at Level 9. I notice slow fall is a reaction does that mean if you jump off a building during battle on your turn and would reach the ground on the same turn you can’t use slow fall or could you still use it?
