How does spell attack work?

A spell attack basically decides if the spell attack hits the target. It’s different from spell saving throws in that it depends less on the target’s ability to dodge, and more on how well your character can aim. It can apply to ranged spells or melee spells, as long as you use a spell attack.

How do you determine what objects are most likely to be affected?

Determine which four objects carried or worn by the creature are most likely to be affected and roll randomly among them. The randomly determined item must make a saving throw against the attack form and take whatever damage the attack dealt. If the selected item is not carried or worn and is not magical, it does not get a saving throw.
