Rituals. Certain spells have a special tag: ritual. Such a spell can be cast following the normal rules for spellcasting, or the spell can be cast as a ritual. The ritual version of a spell takes 10 minutes longer to cast than normal.

Ritual Casting, as the name implies, allows the caster to cast certain spells as a ritual. The spell must have the ritual tag in order to be elligable to be cast as a ritual. The casting time of the spell is increased by 10 minutes. The spell does not consume a spell slot when it is cast as a ritual.

Can you cast a ritual spell at a higher level?
Since you don’t use a spell slot of any kind, you can’t cast a spell using a higher level slot. However, there aren’t currently any ritual spells which can be cast at a higher level with the exception of animal messenger, so this won’t affect anything — for now.
How does a wild mage work in RuneScape?
I’m not an expert, but here goes. The most common effect you’ll see, apart from the extra spell slot, is that a Wild Mage’s caster level varies slightly between each spell. It can be anywhere from 5 below to 5 above your actual mage level. It’s random (of course).
