SPELLS. At level 1, Bards know 2 cantrips and 4 spells. Keep in mind with your Bard, that the number of spells you know is found in your class table and is completely independent of your casting value. For your cantrips, I recommend one utility option and one combat related.
How many spells does a bard have prepared?
You know four 1st-level spells of your choice from the bard spell list. When you level up, you can add an additional spell to that list, and you can select a spell already on that list and swap it with another. This is really the only time you are able to change the spells you can cast as a Bard.

You know four 1st-level spells of your choice from the bard spell list. The Spells Known column of the Bard table shows when you learn more bard spells of your choice. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots, as shown on the table.
When do you become a bard in dungeons and Dragons?
A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Bard table, or a cantrip. The chosen Spells count as Bard Spells for you and are included in the number in the Spells Known column of the Bard table. You learn two additional Spells from any class at 14th level and again at 18th level.
How many cantrips do you have as a bard?
For example, as a 1st-level bard, your cantrips are 1st-level spells, and as a 5th-level bard, your cantrips are 3rd-level spells. The collection of spells you can cast is called your spell repertoire. At 1st level, you learn two 1st-level occult spells of your choice and five occult cantrips of your choice.
Can a bard swap out an old spell?
