In general, I’ve found no issues with a rogue being able to sneak attack up to twice a round: once on the rogue’s turn, and another with a reaction. At best you can Sneak Attack twice on a Round. 1) When you take your Action on your Turn, in a Round, you can attack an opponent for Sneak Attack.

Can a rogue use a whip as a sneak attack?
Rogues generally have lower ACs then Fighters, so if a Rogue has Sentinel many Monsters will happily target the lower AC/lower HP Rogue who deals Sneak Attack with Sentinel. Keep in mind that it has to be a ranged weapon attack, spells don’t count. So a more useful multi-class would be a Ranger Beast Master or a Druid with animal summons. You can also select the Swashbuckler Rogue subclass which allows you to get sneak attack as long as you there isn’t another enemy with 5ft of you and you don’t has disadvantage.

You are able to just sit back and use your sneak attack with your bow every round as long as your buddies are in melee with the enemy or if you qualify for any of the other requirements to use sneak attack. I would beg to differ on these answers as the only ranged “finesse” weapons in the game are a dagger and a dart.
Do you get bonus damage with a rogue?
Sneak attack granted from advantage is probably what you’re thinking of based on the label “sneak” attack, especially since being properly hidden grants advantage on attack. The rogue gets bonus damage because of their own superior stealth/positioning.
