The only mechanical difference is that a component pouch costs twice as much as the cheaper foci. However, flavor-wise, there’s quite the difference. A caster using their focus has quite a different air about them than one pulling the components from their bag.
Do Druids need components?
Sorcerers (with Subtle Spell) and Druids (at L20 via Archdruid) can get around verbal and somatic components, but pretty much everybody else is stuck with them. Spells cast from magic items don’t need the components at all, though the specific item may impose other requirements.

Are there normal spell components consumed by the spell?
