In order to get the Grandmaster title, a player usually needs to get 3 GM-norms (with some exceptions again). In addition, your FIDE rating has to have passed 2500 rating at some point in order to become a Grandmaster.

At class B/A you might get a lot out of Chess for Zebras. You must understand the game. Analyzing your games helps you know your weaknesses and thus helps you where and why did you make mistakes. What is good and bad on your play and you can gain a understanding in the game.

Which is the correct rating for a Class D chess player?
The ratings for the class players are correct for the USCF – 1200-1399 is indeed the definition of class D, master is 2200+, etc. (IM and GM are international titles not based on USCF ratings, so they aren’t directly comparable.) But I’m not so sure about the descriptions, especially at the upper and lower ends.
