I know it’s 2018 now, but your question is still relevant. RuneScape is still growing, with OSRS being the majority of the players. I’ll focus on OSRS because I personally play it, but don’t disregard RS3. I play OSRS for 2 main reasons:
How old was RuneScape when OSRS came out?
OSRS is technically the new game, since they are new servers just with the content of the old game, but it’s really the content that you should look at, not when the game came out. I played RuneScape when I was about 4 or 5 years old, and I can still recall very vivid memories of playing the game on my family’s old, beat-up computer.
Which is the best version of RuneScape to play?
Personally I prefer Old school Runescape, which you can play easily by simply creating a character. The more modern version of Runescape (often referred to as easyscape) is a vastly different game, although with the same areas, and a few more skills to level in.
What kind of programming do I need for RuneScape?
Coding Dojo is the serious choice. In 14 weeks, build applications in Python, Java, JavaScript, and React. No experience required. I know it’s 2018 now, but your question is still relevant.
Is it worth getting into RuneScape RS3?
RS3 still brings in more money then OSRS (due to mtx), so don’t expect the game to die anytime soon. Add in the fact that mobile is getting closer for RS3, and you could see the same massive boost to a bigger game. It’s still coming along, it works pretty well compared to when we first got it!
Is it worth getting back into oldschool RuneScape?
OldSchool is essentially the same game you played back then, brought back to life 4 years ago. Many updates have been added during those 4 years, most of which have had overwhelming community support. Now is probably the best time since release to join OSRS, as the current player counts are higher than they have ever been.
Can you buy skill Capes in RuneScape for free?
Free players can train skills to 99, but cannot buy any skill capes, which are only available to members. Thus free players are unable to display their mastery in a skill with clothing.
Do you have to pay to play RuneScape?
No monetary cost. Players are not required to pay, nor is there a cut-off period. Free-to-play now acts as a less substantial game to new players: some may find they do not enjoy the game, and are able to leave without losing money.
