Much as I love the concept, fun and flavour of Wild Shape, this is simply overpowered and unbalancing, especially in the lower levels of the game… (where, incidentally, I play most of my D&D).
Can a level 20 circle of the Moon Druid wildshape?
Am I misunderstanding something about how hit points work between these forms, or is a level 20 Circle of the Moon druid virtually immune to all but the most insane damage spikes? A druid can only wildshape on his turn.

Does unlimited Wild Shape make Circle of the Moon archdruids virtually unkillable? Page 67 of the PHB states that druids gain all the hit points of whatever creature they become when using Wild Shape, and when that shape drops to 0hp, only the excess damage carries over to the druid’s original form.
Which is the strongest level for a moon Druid?
To make things simple, I will focus on the level 2-6 range, as level 2 is where the Moon Druid is considered strongest, and level 6 is where they’re often considered to be “plateauing”.

Not only does the Moon Druid Brown Bear form have as much health as a level 3 character, but the Druid form will also have roughly the amount of health of an average level 2 character. Combined (52 HP), they effectively have as much health as a level 7 character. Additionally, the Druid will be able to Wild Shape multiple times per day.
What can you give a moon Druid in D & D?
You could give him a magic item that is designed to work while wild shaped. Bonus points if it’s cool. For example, maybe a cloak of displacement that the druid can choose to gain the benefits from even in wild shape. When doing so, it alters the beast form to look like a displacer beast hybrid.
