The fix: Perception checks should be called for by the DM and not just declared by players. You could go one step further, since your a great DM and have recorded all your PCs Perception Checks (as called for in Dungeons and Dragons Adventurers League (DDAL) DMing).

William Hostman. IMO, the optimal frequency for which players should roll Perception is zero. If a Perception (or Investigation) roll is needed, the DM should roll it on behalf of the player(s) and the die roll should be hidden. Otherwise, passive Perception should be suitable for most situations.
